Plan for Success

I was walking through an airport and passed a guy wearing a t-shirt. It was a simple white shirt with three words: Decide. Commit. Succeed. Is it really that simple?

It is never simple, but success can only come if you are Committing to a plan.

At the start of the year, I set a goal to run 6 running races and perform better than last year.  I Decided.  I Committed.  But there was no Success.  My commitment to my goal is strong. I registered for the races. I am running. I completed three of the races. I thought that I was doing what I needed. But I am not running better than last year. Why?  I Committed to a goal without a roadmap or plan that can lead to success. If my goal was simply to run 6 races, then my plan to sign up for races and complete the races would be sufficient to achieve success.  However, I wanted to run faster than last year. This goal requires a different plan. A plan that I never created.

Now I have a plan. For the second half of my running season, I have a 10k, 12k, and half marathon remaining.  I created a plan to run no less than 3x a week while incorporating speed, distance & strength training workouts.  I am committing to the plan.

Do you have a plan to reach your goals?

Is it the right plan to achieve your goals?

Have you committed to the plan?

Decide. Commit. Succeed.
